Mediterranean Program 2023-24

The “Mediterranean” program is open to researchers from all disciplines, artists and thinkers from all fields. It is part of the comparative field of "Mediterranean Studies", which is both international and interdisciplinary. This program is articulated in particular around three major areas of research: the critical thought in contemporary Islam, particularly through a reflection on Mediterranean Islam (Averroes Chair); the question of identity passions, between Europe and the Mediterranean, and the historical, political, national, religious and economic references which inspire these passions, and allow to better understand their development (Hirschman Chair); the question of the Mediterranean tomorrow, at the time of the Anthropocene, climatic upheavals and the transformation of our planet, which invites us to think of this world as a bio-region in the making, both in its human realities and in the transformation of lifestyles (Tillion Chair).
